Description Greenwater algae problems can be eradicated using a UV light clarifier and PLL UV-C Germicidal Bulb 2G11 Base lamps. Ensure the quartz glass is kept free of algae, to help stop the light becoming ineffective. UV lamps contain a very small amount of mercury which with the gas inside the lamp emit the bacteria killing light. Never look directly at a UV lamp when it is on as will damage your eyes. The effective life of a replacement UV lamp is approx 8000 hours. After this point it will seem to be working but in fact the effectiveness of the lamp will be decreasing and needs to be changed. Changing a bulb twice annually will usually be good enough to maintain the filter light unit. All bulbs are designed to be suitable as the original lamp bought with the pond UV Filter. Spent PLL UV-C Germicidal Bulb 2G11 Base bulbs should be disposed as with accordance with state and national laws.
