Small Lake Swan Decoy Set

I bought this set to deter the yearly blanket of Canadian goose feces on my lawn. I think my experiment was about 80% effective. This is actually 2 different products, a large swan and a small one. I used small stainless spring links to attach to some thin, plastic coated supposedly stainless 12 foot cables anchored to a bucket of cement at the bottom. All in all the evil geese were pretty apprehensive of the swans floating. But after a while they did come ashore. I think to be most effective you’d have to move them periodically- I did not. I put 3 in the water and 1 adult sized swan on the shore. The 3 were in the water for May-July. The small swans worked well, the loops to attach to were solid plastic and did not break or crack from any friction. The small swans did not take on water at all. The big swan in the pond water took on a slight list, when I removed it it had taken on water both into the body and in the separate neck from small 2-3mm holes that look like they are from the injection molding process. IT did NOT sink. The attachment loop was larger and not solid, I though it might fail and admit water but it did not. My neighbor suggested that I try to put some small amount of window spray foam in the swan to keep it from filling and sinking, I may try that next year. Overall, I think with some tweaks the swans will be a big part of any effective attempt at deterring the invading cobra chickens and their green feces that I deal with each spring and summer. If the small holes didn’t allow water in, I’d give them a 5. I hope the foam trick works, as they were not inexpensive. The company did well, no issues with the purchase or the shipping, no complaints there. Also, the swans do actually attract alot of yahoos , leading to curious people trespassing. M in upstate NY
